Cleaning of Devices - General Instructions
- Unplug and power off the device. Remove the device battery (if applicable).
- Disconnect any cables or peripherals that are plugged into the device so that it doesn’t hinder access and allows for cleaning all areas.
- Avoid using any harsh chemical or abrasive cleaners and supplies to avoid scratching the device.
- Use a lint-free microfiber cloth or paper towels to wipe down surfaces.
- When using cleaners, avoid spraying cleaner directly onto the device and ensure moisture does not get into any openings.
- We will be using a 70% alcohol based solution. Spray the solution on the paper towel or cloth. Be careful not to soak the paper towel. Gently wipe hard, non-porous surfaces. This includes the display, keyboard, mouse, exterior surfaces.
- Bleach and hydrogen peroxide are not recommended products for device cleaning and disinfecting.
- Ensure the device is fully dry before closing the lid of mobile devices or powering devices back on.
- After cleaning devices, clean peripherals (e.g. mouse, external keyboards, power adapters, cables, computer carts) using the same technique.
